About NIFTY 50
- The index is calculated on free-float market capitalisation, so a company’s weight reflects the shares actually available to trade rather than its full equity base.
- Constituents are reviewed periodically, and companies are added or removed as eligibility criteria are met. The current list is published by the index provider.
- Because a handful of large names carry substantial weight, the index can move differently from the average stock - which is why market breadth is worth reading alongside it.
Index methodology, constituent lists and weightings are published by the index provider and change over time. Refer to the provider’s own documentation for the authoritative current position. Nothing on this page is a recommendation.
